The Soap Addict: Review / Giveaway

In my research over the last couple of years in what was good or bad for my body and that of my family, I recently started switching the soaps in our household.  Most conventional soaps contain parabens and SLS that creates the lathering effect, yet is a chemical that invades our bodies and potentially harmful.

The body’s largest organ, the skin, soaks up 60% of what you put on it.  Why wouldn't you be more careful as to what you place on your body? Soap Addict creates natural, handmade soap and body products you can feel good about using. You’ll find only good-for-your skin, nature based ingredients in our products due to their commitment to only create products that are all-natural and good for your skin.

Soap Addict combines pure vegetable oils, luxurious plant butters, essential oils, herbs, spices, clays and juices to make one-of-a-kind soaps and body products that are actually good for your skin. Your skin will thank you, and you’ll be hooked in no time.

I attended the Cowtown Indie Bazaar in Fort Worth, TX a little over a month ago and had the great pleasure of meeting the Soap Addict.

Karla began her Texas based company even before the company was created.  Making her own soaps in her spare time, she eventually refined the process and making amazing soaps ... and thus the creation of  Soap Addict.

All of the Soap Addict products are all completely free of parabens, phthalates, artificial colors, fragrances and preservatives. You won’t find any junk in their product line, only natural, skin-loving ingredients.

All products are vegetarian-friendly, and most are vegan. Karla uses local ingredients whenever possible, and use herbs from my her own backyard (organic, of course!). And everything is cruelty-free and animal friendly – no animal testing ever.

All of her soaps are made by hand in small batches using the cold process method. Each bar is lovingly cut by hand and cured for at least a month, making each one a long-lasting, mild bar of soapy goodness. Each bar may vary slightly from the last due to its handmade nature.

My Reviews

Karla sent to me two handmade soaps (Lemongrass Green Tea / Mint Chocolate), an Orange Lotion Bar and Mint Lip Balm to test and review.

HANDMADE SOAP REVIEW
First, I tried the soaps - starting with the Mint Chocolate (who could pass up chocolate?).  I have bought homemade soaps before and I can honestly say that this is the best handmade soap that I have ever tried!  They both had extremely refreshing and invigorating scents - and outside of being made out of amazingly natural ingredients, they actually lathered on my skin.  This actually surprised me, as most handmade soaps don't lather well.  I was extremely happy and overly pleased with these soaps.

The Lemongrass Green Tea soap is great for that good morning sunshine feeling!  Crisp and citrus-y, this lemon infused soap is great to help you wake up and feel revived before you can grab that first cup of coffee.

Lemongrass Green Tea Ingredients:  Saponified oils of olive palm, coconut, shea butter, castor oil, bentonite clay, green tea leaves, essential oil blend, green tea extract

The Mint Chocolate soap smells like a York peppermint patty - Can I please eat this soap? It reminds me of Christmastime and I loved it!

Mint Chocolate Ingredients: Olive oil, palm oil, coconut oil, water, sodium hydroxide, avocado oil, cocoa butter, peppermint essential oil, cocoa powder

LOTION BALM REVIEW
Secondly, I tried the lotion bar immediately upon exiting the shower.  I had never ever seen anything like this before and was quite excited to try it.  Designed to look like a flower and securely fitting into the palm of your hand, the lotion bar went on smoothly and the compilation of oils kept my skin hydrated all day.  The only thing that I would like to see is a larger bar, as I can't see the bar lasting that long.

Ingredients: Beeswax, cocoa butter, shea butter, jojoba oil, almond oil, essential oils, vitamin E.

LIP BALM REVIEW
Finally, the lip balm.  I have to say that I am a nut for chapsticks and hydrating lip balms, as my lips seem to always be chapped.  I LOVED this lip balm....and still do.  I have kept it in my pocket and at my bedside at all times.  The balm goes on smooth and tingles on my lips.  I do not need to reapply that often due to chapping, but the way that it feels on my lips makes me keep wanting to put it back on :)

Ingredients:  Beeswax, mango butter, cocoa butter, almond oil, jojoba oil,
peppermint essential oil, vitamin E.

I must give an A+ Rave Review to this eco-frienly product!
