Reacher Grabber * Review

Have you ever lost a sock behind the washer? A magnet between the fridge and the counter?   Our most recent dilemma involved a phone falling under a captains bed.

Growing up, my dad had "the claw." This was his go-to tool and with four little girls in the house, leaving toys in every hiding spot available, it sure came in great use to him.

As I grew older, and became a parent myself, I have owned a couple of grabber claws.  Funny enough, though, the ownership began with our son, Noah.  While living in Dallas, Noah became an obsessed little 5 year old boy who would scour through shrubbery and walk through parks picking up trash with is grabber.

We purchase a number of different claws, none of which lasted more than a couple of days.  Mind you, this was not simply because of misuse or lack of care by a young child, but rather poor quality materials and craftsmanship.

I recently acquired a Reacher Grabber from Vive Health and was excited to try it out, considering my past experience with other claws and grabbers.

Quickly arriving in 2 days, I was immediately struck with the quality. At least from my initial inspection of it, its rubberized grip of the handle AND the claw, set it apart from its competitors.  The stem of the grabber is a heavy duty aluminum frame that doesn't seem to be easily damaged.

The ability to rotate the claw is a nice design feature, that allows you to not have to torque your arm and body in strange positions to reach items in difficult spots.

While we played with grabbing things around the house, the use of its daily applicability shined only two days after receiving this in the mail.  Our son owns a captains bed, a bed in which the mattress is elevated and supported by cross beams.  Under the bed are 4 drawers and a cabinet.  If anything falls behind the bed, it becomes a dilemma, as the bed is very heavy to move and is solidly placed on the ground on all four sides.  In order to retrieve our lost treasures, someone has to lift the bed and supporting mattress up, while the other tries to climb under the mattress, wriggle through the drawers and back into the open space.  As my son grows older (and bigger) this is becoming increasingly more difficult to do.

Enter the Reacher Grabber.

My son dropped a play cell phone behind his bed. I had him run to get the Reacher Grabber to see if that could help.  I lifted the two mattresses and he used the grabber to retrieve the phone....without having to climb under and through the maze that is the bed.  The rubberized pincher style grip, along with it's 32" reach, easily grabbed the phone and he and the phone were out safely!

Noah was overjoyed that he could use the claw in an effective and practical way, and I was relieved that I didn't have to worry about the implications of dropping a mattress (those are heavy)!

Another practical way that we were recently able to use the grabber was during playtime. Our upstairs banister looks over the downstairs living room. While playing, my daughter dropped her lovie, which conveniently landed on the molding that surrounds the entryway to our dining room and homeschool classroom.  Ellie, the elephant lovie, was stuck.

Typically, the kids have to sit upstairs and try to reach their toes down to kick down items that get caught on this ledge, but not this time!  I was able to use the Reacher Grabber to grab and safely rescue our lovie, essentially saving the day....and a meltdown.

The Reacher Grabber, in our home for nearly two weeks now, has come in use on nearly a daily basis.  We have had no issues with functionality or quality.  The grabber has, to date, outlived every other claw that we have purchased in past times.

On a final note, I know that if I ever have an issue with my Reacher Grabber, it is protected under an amazing warranty!

I would highly recommend this 32" Reacher Grabber for anyone!

It will be a staple in our home from now on!
