Eco-Friendly Low Flow Shower Head Review and 10!! to Giveaway
Ever since I've changed the lifestyle of my family to go a little more green, I have wanted to get low-flow showerheads for our bathrooms.
BRICOR's patented VACUUM Flow Restriction Technology significantly reduces your water, gas and electrical consumption while simultaneously improving the quality of the shower stream.
How does it work?
MY REVIEW
Reducing hot water use saves energy because your hot water heater has less work to do. Approximately 73% of the water used in a typical shower is hot water. Inexpensive and simple-to-install, low-flow showerheads and faucet aerators can reduce home water consumption and water heating costs by as much as 50%.
Faucet aerators replace the faucet head screen, lowering the flow by adding air to the spray. Low-flow showerheads either draw in air, or have it forced into the water stream by using compressed air. The air-water mixture under pressure creates a high velocity spray, which makes it seem like more water is coming out than there actually is. Simply installing a high-efficiency showerhead and faucet aerator will save about 7,800 gallons of water per year in an average household. (fypower.org)
I had the pleasure of receiving and reviewing two different showerheads from Bricor. The look of the showerhead is not really any different than that of your standard showerhead, so I was very curious as to the difference in their performance.
This is the Bricor EcoFIT 1.25 gpm (gallons per minute) at 50psi (Pictured Below). The Bricor EcoFIT™ Showerhead is set to deliver 1.25 gpm @ 50 psi, with an FIT value of 8.36. It is 50% solid brass and 50% chromed ABS material with a Neoprene spray plate. It is the most cost effective Bricor product and fits well into apartment projects and other budget sensitive applications.
The stream pressure and quality of the stream can definitely be told. They don't spray completely like a normal showerhead, instead they spatter just a tad more, but the pressure was great and I had no issues with low pressure or an awkward flow. I honestly would not have guessed that this was a low-flow showerhead at first!
The second shower head that we reviewed was the Bricor B100-MAX 1.0 gpm at 50 psi (as pictured below). The more expensive of the two shower heads, this has been a proven performer with the troops in Iraq. Installed in many colleges and universities throughout the USA. Unbelievably strong flow stream with a FIT(R) value of 7.98 while only using 1 gpm!
This shower head also "spatters" the water as did the first one, which I can assume is how the water is spared. Please do not take the word "spatter" as a negative connotation, as the flow of the water resembles that of a light massaging shower head. I liked the shower head much more than my husband, but I did get him to agree that the pressure was still great and never felt as if we were lacking of water.
In addition to the excellent product samples that were sent to me for review, the customer service was outstanding! Austin, my CSR, called initially to determine which showerheads would be the best to review based on the pressure of the city water and the use within the home. He then followed up on a couple of different occasions to make sure that we were not having any issues with the products.
I can only imagine if I was a paying customer! Wow!
I love that we have low-flow showerheads now and that they are saving water, saving the environment and saving us money!
Bricor produces some of the best low-flow products in the plumbing industry. Not only are they the most Efficient showerheads and aerators that money can buy, but they give you the best Performance when compared side by side with the competition.
BRICOR's patented VACUUM Flow Restriction Technology significantly reduces your water, gas and electrical consumption while simultaneously improving the quality of the shower stream.
How does it work?
Water enters our patented VACUUM flow "booster" valve where it is aerated and compacted under pressure. Due to the intense force of the vacuum chamber, the aerated water "explodes" as it exits the shower head, creating a powerful shower stream at a very low flow rate (1.25 gallons per minute or less).

Bricor.com also has an amazing savings calculator on their website that shows your current cost in showering, your new cost in showering and the savings by switching to a low-flow shower head!
It was amazing to do this, as I learned that we could save 18,552 gallons of water per year!
So that I can share in my environmentally conscious upgrade to our water conservation, I would like to share in this review and giveaway one of the two shower heads.
Up for grabs will be the Bricor EcoFit 1.25 gpm at 50 psi.
As a disclaimer, Bricor is not responsible for the quality of the flow generated by the shower head, as this shower head is meant for a psi of 50, which most larger cities have, if the psi is lower than what the shower head is designed for.
