Lawry's "Complete Meal Ideas" - Review and Giveaway

I have always known Lawry's for their spice blends.   I inadvertently have purchased their product for years, especially their garlic salt, since it is:

  1. So good
  2. So affordable
  3. I'm addicted to garlic in my meals!
I was recently presented the opportunity to receive a  Lawry’s “Complete Meal Ideas” gift pack that including all four of the new Lawry’s seasoning mix varieties
  • Asian Style Beef & Broccoli
  • Chimichurri Burrito Casserole
  • Mediterranean Sundried Tomato & Garlic Chicken
  • Tuscan Style Chicken Marsala with Garlic & Basil

In addition to the seasoning mixes, I also received a fantastic Pyrex 9" x 13" glass baking dish with a Lawry's branded cover.  Awesome!

If you know anything about me, I do love to cook, but recently I have been drained of energy and have been eating cereal or PB&J's for dinner - of course to the dismay of my husband.

I, then, was excited to receive this MyBlogSpark review, as it seemed easy and fun....and Yummy!

I decided to make the Chimichurri Burrito Casserole first.  Following the directions on the back, I did take liberties, as I always do, and added a lot of pureed veggies into the meat, as well as garlic.  Doing this added to our vegetable intake, making the dish even healthier.

Here is the recipe and nutritional information taken directly from the Lawrys.com website:

Lawry's® Chimichurri Burrito Casserole
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Makes: 8 servings.

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups water
1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
1 pound ground beef
1 can (15 ounces) black beans, drained and rinsed
8 flour tortillas (8-inch), warmed
1 1/2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350ºF. Mix water, Seasoning Mix and tomato sauce until well blended.

2. Brown meat in large skillet on medium-high heat. Drain fat. Stir in 1 cup of the sauce mixture and beans. Spoon about 1/2 cup meat mixture into each tortilla. Fold over sides. Place seam-side down in greased 13x9x2-inch baking dish. Spoon remaining sauce over burritos. Sprinkle with cheese.

3. Bake 15 minutes or until heated through and cheese is melted.
Nutrition Information per serving:

I used grass fed natural beef and then I also added one full chopped red bell pepper, 1/2 chopped onion and 3 tbsp. minced garlic.

The meal was easy, delicious and fed us for a week!  Love meals like that!  I love Pyrex too, so I am so excited to have a Pyrex baking dish with cover in my repertoire of kitchen toys!

What was great, as well, is the fact that it was OK to give to Noah :)

Think I'd first like to try the Asian Beef and Broccoli...have had a recipe for something similar for a while and have been too lazy/tired to try it out. I love, love, love making one pot (or pan) meals as we usually have enough food for a few days, plus lunch leftover...and this saves sooo much time.
