Mothers Day, Anniversary, 10 Weeks and an OB Visit

10 weeks ~ Wow!
Well, this week was ultra special. Not only was it Mother's Day on Sunday, but it was also our first anniversary! OK - I was the bad wife and didn't get my baby a card, but I just misunderstood the logistics of no gifts for each other....... :(
We actually spent Friday night with Cathy (Mel's mom) for Mother's Day and then Saturday night with Kay (Jonathan's mom). It was so nice!
Then on Sunday, we started off by going to church, always a great way to start off your Sunday. I received a carnation since I am a mom-to-be! Then we went to Taco Diner for lunch - went home and took a nap, then went and saw Star Trek...which was AWESOME! I really wish that I would have been feeling better on Sunday - I was functional, but not well harldy at all.
So, I'm trying to cut back on the Zofran (the anti-nausea meds) due to some yuk side-effects. We'll see how that goes!
OK - Baby time.
We are 10 weeks 0 days.
We had our second OB visit today with our second ultrasound - the last one for a while.
It was a great visit. The only true reason we were there was to have a second ultrasound and then ask any questions to the doctor.

This was our last ultrasound until 18-20 weeks. So, in about 8 weeks, we'll find out if we are having a boy or girl! YEAH!
The baby is the size of a prune:
Or a Kumquat (What the heck is a kumquat?) :
At a little over an inch or so long, crown to bottom, the baby weighs less than a quarter of an ounce, but has now completed the most critical portion of development. The baby is officially termed a Fetus!
Baby is swallowing fluid and kicking up a storm - even though I can't feel it yet
Vital organs — including his kidneys, intestines, brain, and liver (now making red blood cells in place of the disappearing yolk sac) — are in place and starting to function.
Tiny nails are forming on fingers and toes (no more webbing) and peach-fuzz hair is beginning to grow on tender skin.
In other developments:
Baby's limbs can bend now
Hands are flexed at the wrist and meet over his heart
The outline of his spine is clearly visible through translucent skin
The baby's forehead temporarily bulges with the developing brain and sits very high on the head, which measures half the length of his body.
From crown to rump, the baby is about 1 1/4 inches long.
In the coming weeks, the baby will again double in size — to nearly 3 inches.
It's amazing that the baby actually is looking like a baby now! WOW!
Please continue to pray for a few things:
1) For continued health and safety of our unborn child,
2) For Melanie - for increased health and safety during the pregnancy
3) For Jonathan - for continued patience and support (What a great man he is!)
