Adventures in Baby Food Making - Week 6: Acorn Squash
OK - Week 5 was a disaster!
NOAH HATES CARROTS!
I waited the 15 servings rule and he still throws his head back in disgust! The only thing that helps is to add cinnamon to the mix. Then it becomes "tolerable"
This week we started Acorn Squash. Similar to the Butternut Squash, I knew that he would probably be OK.....sure enough....he LOVES it!!!
Here is how you can make acorn squash too:
Select your Organic Acorn Squash. They should have very tough skin.
Cut off the ends and slice in half.
Scoop out the seeds and fibers - just like a pumpkin!
See! They look like pumpkin seeds
Cut into quarters and place in steamer. Steam for 25 minutes.
Once cool enough to touch spoon out the "meat" of the squash - similar to how you would spoon out avacados.
Place in your food processor and puree for 2 minutes or until smooth.
Place in your ice cube trays. Two acorn squash filled one tray of 2tbsp each.
Freeze and then bag and tag.
Acorn squash is good for 2 months in the freezer.
I told you that he loved it!
Here is the proof:

#1 didn't really like homemade carrots either. I am still trying to get him to eat them at 2 years old. Just keep trying, right? =)
